Las Vegas for senior citizens
Las Vegas for senior citizens is very workable and often economical since there are many discounts available to you. You may have to take some time to check information out online ahead of time to find the best bargains, but it is well worth the search.
When you are booking your flights to las vegas tell the agent that you are entitled to a senior discount. This can save you a considerable amount of money at the very beginning.
If you are disabled in any way, tell the agent that you are in need of a wheelchair and someone to take you from the ticket counter to the boarding gate and that you will also need the same upon your return. There is no charge for this except for giving a tip.
When you arrive in Las Vegas at the McCarran International Airport, you will be among the more than 10 million passengers a year to use North America's 10th busiest airport and the world's 16th busiest airport. Because of all these people to service, the airport has taxi and limousine service available 24 hours a day. There is also an airport shuttle service every 15 minutes to the Strip and downtown hotels at a reasonable rate. If you just have a carry-on bag, you can catch the CAT (Citizen Area Transit) bus where seniors only pay $1.10 if they have an ID issued by the local transport authority.
Before you take a shuttle or bus, check with your hotel/motel at the time that you make reservations to see if they provide free airport pick-up and return service.
You will find people movers (moving walkways) at the entrances to some Strip hotels, which can be a very welcome sight. Stand to the right so that people who are in a hurry can pass you on the left.
Check out the Las Vegas Power Pass which offers entry to tours and attractions at a combined value of over US$500 in admission charges. You are also able to skip to the front of the line and get additional discounts and special offers. A brochure is provided with descriptions, operating hours, maps, etc. You can buy this Power Pass for one, two, three, or five days.
The Las Vegas Meal Ticket gives you one breakfast, one lunch, and one dinner per day. The one low price allows you to go to selected restaurants and go back to those you consider favourites.
Another budget helper is the Las Vegas Bite Card. Good for one year (so it can be used on different trips there), you get deep discounts at more than ten hotels and casinos as well as specified shows, restaurants, tours, and attractions.
Senior citizens can find shows that are especially appealing to them. For instance, "The Rat Pack" at the Plaza Hotel and Casino transports you back to the 1960s with entertainers who closely resemble Frank, Dean, Sammy and Joey. They sing the classic songs you love and include humorous banter. It is a distance away, so plan on a cab or bus ride to get there. There is also the "Donny and Marie Osmond Show" at the Flamingo Hotel and Casino, which is a 90-minute extravaganza.
